VCx is an open marketplace for purchasing virtual health care services.
Our goal is to create a one-stop shop for employers to purchase and manage their virtual health services, choosing from a wide (and growing) selection of virtual care providers.
We do not involve intermediaries (like insurance companies or third-party payors). There are no claims to file, no co-pays, and no deductables to overcome.
As employers ourselves, we had strong opinions already about what would work and what would be too much trouble. We drew upon our own experiences in how we built this system and solution.
We believe dramatically lower costs associated with virtual healthcare delivery creates new opportunities, especially for employers who cannot afford to support conventional healthcare insurance plans.
Or for part-timers or independent contractors who are generally not eligible to receive employer-sponsored health insurance from their employers.
We know virtual care cannot replace health insurance (as our in-house humorist likes to say “you can’t scope a knee over the phone”), but virtual care does create a basic level of healthcare access that is highly useful and highly valued by those workers who do not have insurance.
Finally, my personal thanks to our army of “mystery shoppers”, our “volunteered” test-employers, our determined platform developers, and our growing family of intrepid providers.
The energy and talent within this group of early adopters has been an inspiration.
